An intimate investigation into the relationship between the director’s father and his parents, during the years of his youth. The three characters, in dialogue and in conflict with each other, open up about the ambivalent feelings that they felt towards the family expectations and the bond with their roots. Storylines emerge in fragments from a collection of individual memories and points of view of different times - from letters, photographs, super8 films and DV videos. Coming from patriarchal families of Southern Italy, a young couple moved to Milan, in the North, to start its own family. In the context of the economically and culturally changing Italian society of the ‘60s and ‘70s, each character faces his own inner changes - of thought, dreams and desires.
